Eric Ressel 2009 graduated on May 22, 2013 from the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT.  He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Operations Research and Computer Analysis (ORCA), and a commission as an Ensign in the U.S. Coast Guard.  His commission was presented by his father, LCDR (ret.) David Ressel, his brother, LT Charles Ressel, and Vice President Joe Biden.

Prior to graduation, Eric received a special award for the “Best Capstone Project” in his ORCA major.  For this project, he wrote a computer program that allows Coast Guard units to plan their patrol patterns, covering an area of ocean with maximum efficiency.  Eric’s program has been successfully tested by operational Coast Guard units, and he is adapting it for use throughout the service.

Eric is currently serving as a Deck Watch Officer aboard USCG Cutter Munro, homeported in Kodiak, AK.
