The School Governance Council is an advisory council whose purpose is to enable parents, school staff, students and community leaders to work together to improve student achievement in low performing schools. The School Governance Council may advise administration in areas of school needs, programmatic changes, the development of the school improvement plan, and policy issues. However, the SGC does not make final decisions in these matters.

The School Governance Council at Torrington High School is a committee including Parents, Teachers, Community members, Students and Administration.  We have been getting together in an advisory capacity to help move THS forward and keep it the great place it is.   As a result of graduation we are looking to replace 2 parents on this year’s committee.   Please go online to vote for your choice in parent representation on this committee.
